Enabling Subscriber-to-Subscriber Communication in an NBMA DSL Network

Residential broadband digital subscriber loop (DSL) networks are used fo r many applications, such as surfing the Web, ICQ and e -mail. One of the more performance intensive applications is distributed gaming. Participants in an online game may subscribe to multiple ISP’s, or they may share the same ISP. In the case where severa l gamers share the same ISP, they will likely all reside in the sa...

Achieving Improved Network Subscriber Geo-Location

Future disaster and emergency management requirements are currently under discussion in the US and Europe that will require mobile phone network operators to locate their subscribers to a high level of accuracy within a short time period. Current deployed mobile phone geolocation systems are required to locate the caller to within 125 m. Future systems will require an order of magnitude better ...

MIMO Systems in the Subscriber-Line Network

We consider multi-tone modulation (DMT, Discrete Multitone, OFDM, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) over cable bundles and present a compact mathematical description of the transmission line. Both, nearand far-end crosstalk (NEXT, FEXT) are taken into account and a new method for removing far-end crosstalk is derived. Keywords— MIMO, Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output, FEXT-Cancellation, NEX...

Physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems.

We present the first experimental demonstration and characterization of the application of optical physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems. It combines two optical OFDM frames to share the same link so as to enhance system throughput, while individual OFDM frames can be recovered with digital signal processing at the destined node.

Optimization of Q-Values for Coherent Optical Transmission Network

In this paper we have analyzed the Gaussian Non-linear Interference (GNLI) spectrum considering non identical channels, non-identical links and Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) noise power spectrum for Coherent Optical Transmission Network (COTN) to calculate the Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) and Quality (Q) values. In this study, three different Baud rate values (13.875Gbaud, 27.75G...
